Rain Down on Me

September 16, 2011

Gone astray,
a lamb to be slaughtered.
Lost in the darkness;
hopeless and confused.
Sleepless nights
hazed with angst.
Showers of sadness all consuming
flood my soul.
Eyes red with
the dryness of my tears.
The sorrow and guilt
cause my heart pain.
I watch for a rainbow
and my heart turns gray;
 I long for yesterday.
O Lord, wash over my tired soul!
You are my life line;
my hope and refuge
in these stormy times.
You are my sunlight in the rain.
Shine bright, Lord!
Like a beacon of hope
you lead the way.
I will follow--
like night after the day.
I need you to rain down on me.
Rain on me
your sovereign grace.
The weather is fine when you rain on me.
With you I know I am safe.
Vanishing sorrow;
you take my sadness and wash it away--
like the sunlight in the rain.
I need you
in the times that I stray.
I will follow like night after the day.
The weather is fine when you rain on me.
Let heaven's mercy flow.
Rain on me!

I am God by Emily Kirk

September 3, 2011

I have no experience in poetry. In fact, this is my very first one. Ever! And, alas, I am not very attuned to the rules of poetry like I am when writing prose. Thus, I would love critique and pointers! Thanks.
The Creator of the universe;
The giver of life.
The Alfa and Omega;
The beginning and the end.
I am your Lord, God Almighty…
Who needs you to have faith in Me,
And acknowledge in your heart that I am your Lord and Savior.
Who loves the lost, the broken, the weary, and the oppressed.
Who sees you as a new creation blessed and redeemed.
Who hates a haughty look, a deceitful tongue, and a perverse heart.
Who fears nothing, but is a very jealous God; I will not share you with false Gods.
I love you and you are mine.
I am your God
Who dreams of an intimate relationship with you, to fulfill your wildest dreams,
And to give you grace, peace and joy in all situations.
Who has found poems of My love and favor towards you in Psalms.
Who has this to say: Faith plus nothing else equals salvation.
